WHO WE ARE
Dalhousie Church is a Community of Hope! It is our mission to be bringers of hope. We do this by making Jesus known and sharing the hope we have found in Him. We want to journey alongside the broken and the hurting in our communities to help them discover the hope found in Jesus. Everyone is welcome – we are inclusive of all generations and all people.
Our vision is to be a Community of Hope by sharing the hope that we have found in Jesus. We do this by engaging in three areas of ministry: Restore, Equip, & Serve.
Brokenness is something that we all experience – through the decisions we’ve made or decisions that were made for us. Sadly, many of us try making the journey toward restoration alone. However, the journey toward restoration is a lifelong endeavour that is meant to be shared with a community. We want to walk alongside the broken and the hurting in our communities to help them discover the hope found in Jesus. The hope we find in Jesus is that our future can be full of healing, restoration and meaning.
In our journey toward restoration we need to learn how to live, think and act differently. We have to learn how to see ourselves and others the way Jesus sees us. Wisdom is needed to learn how we fit into the larger picture. We want to equip each other to make the changes needed. These changes are critical in order to grow and obtain the insights and skills necessary to choose healing and hope.
The best advocates for restoration, healing and hope are those who have experienced these gifts. We take deep joy in sharing our stories of restoration and the hope we now have. The healing we experienced isn’t just for ourselves – the healing and hope we receive impacts the lives of people we are in a community with. We want to serve people in our community, so that they too can know the healing and hope found in Jesus.
At Dalhousie Church we believe that we are to be a part of and deeply invested in our local and global communities. We have 5 key concepts that we focus on in order to help us make an impact in these communities. The icons below serve as a reminder of our purpose and communities that God has called us to.
We believe in God as eternal Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created and sustains the universe. The eternal purpose of God the Father is to create a people who will bring glory to God forever. God alone is worthy of worship.
We believe that God became human in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to restore the world because humans have rejected God in disobedience. Jesus taught and modelled the way of God’s kingdom. He died on the cross, making it possible for us to accept a renewed relationship with God. He rose from the dead, broke the power of sin and death, and frees us to live in obedience to God’s will.
We believe that God the Holy Spirit invites all people to be reconciled with God and to join the global family of faith. Believers confess their faith, are baptized, and join in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and guided by the Bible, members of the church seek to live as followers of Christ and invite others to experience this new life.
