My family and I are so excited to be here and to call DCC home. We are excited about the days ahead. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all the gifts, cards, food, and money that you gave us. Your generosity was overwhelming and was such a blessing.
Beginning this Sunday we are going to be starting a new sermon series called “Forward” and it will last for 4 weeks. “Forward” is a series about some of the foundational ideas and concepts that I would like for us as a church to embrace as we move forward into the future that God has for us. These are also concepts that are close to my heart both as a Jesus follower and as a pastor.
I have a deep sense that God wants to pour out His blessings upon us so that we might in turn be a blessing to others, to see His Kingdom advance and lives changed. There is such a rich heritage here at DCC -a heritage of faith, family, generosity and maturity. When we think about the future, growth and change it can be a little overwhelming and unsettling at times. Sometimes we believe that means we are going to be called away from what we were. This however is not how I see the Father working in scripture. I see the Father nurturing and growing His church so that it becomes more and more of what He intended it to be. DCC, the goal is not to stop being who we are but to become more of what God intended us to be.
I am so excited to preach my first official sermon as your pastor this Sunday, so don’t forget to set your clocks back on Saturday night before you go to bed, because I want to see you there!
