Our Mission

Dalhousie Church is a unique community. I like to say it this way – we have our own unique God shape. We are a Community of Hope! We have a rich history and yet we are moving forward. We are inclusive of all generations and people. We have deep core values for community involvement, justice and acceptance. Dalhousie Church is affiliated with the Mennonite Brethren denomination.

A Community of hope

The 5 keys

Here at Dalhousie Church we believe that we are to be a part of and deeply invested in our local and global communities. Around this deep core belief, we have 5 key concepts that we focus on in order to help us make an impact in these communities. The icons serve as a reminder of our journey, purpose and communities that God has called us to.

Jesus said the church should be known as a house of prayer. Our prayers should be characterized as joyful, thankful, persistent, at all times, in all things and for all people.

The Kingdom of God is here now and expanding. His Kingdom is characterized by equality, love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and justice. Luke 17:21

As Jesus followers, we are called to a life of generosity not just with finances but also with our lives, time and talents. We are to be generous with who we are. Proverbs 11:25

As Jesus followers, we are called to help restore the broken, the hurting, the marginalized and the lonely. Galatians 6:1

Everyone is welcome! No matter who you are, where you come from, rich, poor, single, married, divorced, gay, straight, gender confused or gender known, Jesus says 'Come all!"

We Are the church

Dalhousie Church belongs to the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.

We believe in God as eternal Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created and sustains the universe. The eternal purpose of God the Father is to create a people who will bring glory to God forever. God alone is worthy of worship.

We believe that God became human in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to restore the world because humans have rejected God in disobedience. Jesus taught and modeled the way of God’s kingdom.

He died on the cross, making it possible for us to accept a renewed relationship with God. He rose from the dead, broke the power of sin and death, and frees us to live in obedience to God’s will.

We believe that God the Holy Spirit invites all people to be reconciled with God and to join the global family of faith. Believers confess their faith, are baptized, and join in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and guided by the Bible, members of the church seek to live as followers of Christ and invite others to experience this new life.
